I remember exactly my mother's answer when I said I wanted to be a musician. Having worked as a band producer in São Paulo, in addition to also having performed artistically as a singer, she knew the difficulties faced by professionals in the industry. "Son, it's a very tough life. There are many trips, jobs that can go through the night and incomes that vary a lot," she said. Despite my choice, she was always on my side and encouraged me to do the best I could as a professional, but also in terms of taking care of myself.
I started working at the age of 14 in a rock band. My father accompanied me to the presentations because I was a minor. It was the beginning of the experience of seeing the excitement and applause of the audience, of eating snacks from the dressing room, of having contact with other artists and gaining more job opportunities. On the other hand, that's when I started having the experience of no more weekends and holidays. It was common to miss family events and meetings with friends. Even so, I continued with the work believing that I could make adaptations.
22 years have passed, in which I worked with so many different people and musical genres and in different contexts. I had achieved a certain balance between professional and personal life. Still, I felt empty. It was something in my nature wanting to show that new approaches were possible. I realized that music could favor education and human development, but also that I could make art as I imagined it. This last case means the search for Fábio's music, which is born of my influences and experiments.
For a long time, we musicians play music from other artists. In Brazil the incentive for original music is very weak. There are few opportunities to show original works, as well as little interest from the public. The result is the work more focused on covers.
I started researching the reality of other countries and concluded that the novelty is possible. In fact, this is the engine in the strongest cultural industries. With all the technology in hand and good planning, you can show your region and the world "your sound", your work created by your spirit. In addition to also preserving and stimulating your creative ability, so good and important for the world.
I think what my nature wanted to show me is precisely this voice of creativity. This one that is in all of us and that leads us to innovation. The world is full of colors and life.
Beautify the world by developing your potential.
